cannondale compact=Cannondale, like Specialized, Look and some others, ocassionally spec high-end bikes with house brand components. The Cannondale SI Carbon Compact Crankset falls into this category, but is also available as an aftermarket crankset through several online bike part retailers.

Cannondale was one of the first bike manufacturers to make extensive use of the BB30 bottom bracket system, so it makes sense that the SI Carbon crankset ships with an integrated BB30. The spider is full carbon with a matte black finish and subtle glossy graphics. Power transfer and stiffness are excellent, as you’d expect from a high-end carbon crankset.

At 630 grams, this is lightweight crankset that will appeal to those who are looking to shave weight wherever possible. 46/36 FSA chain rings allow riders lacking in power to tackle hills with the ease of a triple.

It should be noted that in 2007 the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled about 2,900 SI carbon cranksets due to two reports of broken spiders. If you think you may be riding one of these defective cranksets, check with Cannondale and they will replace it if needed.

    Why not just use the ring gears you have now and down shift sooner and spin more?You stay in the big ring and keep downshifting to larger cogs you end up in your 53X23 cross chaining your chain. And you are not cross chaining your chain either.Use a gear inch calculator to calculate the gear inches for the rings and cassette you have.
