Shimano cranksets have a reputation for accurate, reliable shifting and the 105 FC-5650 is no exception. Shimano has engineered custom tooth profiles, pick-up spikes and ramps that further enhance smoothness and silent shifts. Trickle-down technology enables the Shimano 105 compact crankset to perform like much pricier parts. Kill the hills on the next club ride with the 105 FC-5650.

  1. Kevin says:

This compact crankset is a little more expensive than most mid-level cranksets, but shifting is spot-on when paired with a full 105 group. Stiffness is good and the weight better than some more expensive cranksets. I’m not huge fan of the silver stripe around the big ring, but other than that, this is a good looking crank.

This has been a great crankset. Replaced the FSA crank that came stock on my Fuji. Looks great, shifts well. I’m very happy with the compact gearing. I still feel like I have enough big gears on the flats, but I’m able to climb most hills out of the saddle in the big ring as well. A great piece of equipment. Stiff enough and pretty darn light too.

This crankset came stock on my Giant Defy 1. Love the compact gearing. Had standard gearing on my previous bike and wasn’t sure I was going to like the 34/50 gearing. This isn’t the lightest bike in the world, but can’t beat the full 105 drivetrain for the price. I can climb anything with the 11-28 cassette and 105 group feels just as solid and smooth as any Ultegra equipped bike I’ve ridden. For some reason, shifting down to the small ring seems a little harsh, but it could just be a new bike with tight cables.
